Divisional advisors provide advising services for students with all types of needs. If you are a pre-business student but haven’t yet chosen a specific business major; if you plan to study abroad; if you have unusual circumstances; or if your proposed major(s) require complex arrangements, please stop by the academic advising office to see a divisional advisor.
For assistance in planning your schedule, choosing classes, or resolving other academic issues, we suggest that you first read the information on this web site and then make an appointment with your faculty advisor. You were assigned a faculty advisor when you indicated your intention to study business. If you are unsure who your advisor is, check your myMiami page to obtain personalized advising information. Academic advising is an integral component of the learning process; faculty and divisional advisors are here to help you make sound academic choices.
Your advisor can also offer guidance about a variety of enrichment experiences, from programs like Mock Trial and Highwire Brand Studio to student business competitions, internships and other career preparation opportunities. Such experiential learning provides great benefits and builds valuable relationships between student and prospective employers.
Through your undergraduate advisor you can also obtain information about opportunities to study abroad and join student business organizations. Nearly one-fourth of Farmer School students study abroad, either in one of our summer programs or in a semester-long program at one of several high-caliber Asian universities. To enhance their classroom studies, students participate in more than 20 student organizations, the Business Student Advisory Council, or the Buck Rodgers Business Leadership Program.
Contact us to schedule an appointment or stop by anytime. Our office is in 103 Laws Hall.
