Honor Societies

Alpha Iota Delta

This national honor society was founded to confer distinction for academic excellence in the Decision Sciences. Membership is prestigious and indicates high achievement. It is also a distinguishing factor in a student’s search for positions in business, industry, government and education, since the standards for membership in Alpha Iota Delta are well known by employers.

Beta Alpha Psi

This national honorary society gives accountancy majors opportunities to learn more about the accounting profession. The Miami chapter’s activities include professional meetings with accounting practitioners, tours of corporations and public accounting firms, etiquette and initiation dinners, mock interviews and service projects. Social events enable student members to mix informally with faculty members  and practitioners. Eligibility for membership is based on overall grade point average as well as the successful completion of a certain number of hours in accountancy courses. Pledges must attend specified activities during their pledge semester and pay a one-time membership fee.

To be eligible, a junior must be in the upper 7 percent of his/her class; seniors in the upper 10 percent.
