Master of Accountancy Program

The Miami MAcc—More to Offer!

The Master of Accountancy Program at the Farmer School of Business is more than just accounting . . . we prepare you for broad accounting-related careers beyond tax and assurance services.  Our graduates have gone on to pursue careers in business risk services, fraud investigation, business valuation, forensic accounting, systems and process assurance, and investment banking.

“I can't tell you how beneficial the MAcc has been for me in terms of work and personal growth and what a great help it was for the CPA exam.” – 2007 MAcc graduate

A Size that Matters

Through our small, lock-step program, you will develop a lifetime network of friends in accounting-related fields.  You can call on this network when you are considering changing cities, careers, or just looking to reconnect. Most of your classes will enroll fewer than 25 students, so you get to know your classmates quite well. Our program is not for everyone, but if you are interested in an intimate graduate program with close interaction between students and faculty, where you matter, then read on!

Placement

Our graduates are heavily recruited with national placement – we are a target recruiting school for the Big Four public accounting firms as well as other national, regional, and local public accounting and consulting firms, corporations, and financial industries.

“Miami MAcc graduates have a noticeably superior business sense, a deeper understanding of business relevance, and quickly gain staff and client trust.” – Crowe Horwath recruiter

With over a 95 percent placement rate, recent graduates have begun their career in the major Midwestern markets, with many going to Chicago, while others have gone to New York, Washington D.C., Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Houston, and overseas.  One of our recent graduates was selected for a prestigious FASB internship in Norwalk, CT.

Career Progress

The Miami MAcc program’s emphasis is on a long-term career in an accounting-related field.  Our courses in risk management, fraud, ERP systems, corporate finance, and tax planning combine to prepare you for a career, not just an entry-level position.

“There are three MAcc graduates in my office, and all of us were promoted to senior associate in two years.” – 2005 MAcc graduate

Professional Interaction

A key component of our program is interaction with international accounting executives.  Recent guests in our MAcc classrooms include Ernie Almonte, chairman of the AICPA, and Mike Morris, chairman and CEO of American Electric Power.  In the spring, you will participate in the Executive Conference on Governance, Risk Management, and Reporting sponsored by our Center for Business Excellence.

“I never would have imagined I would get the opportunity to have engaged conversations with top executives on issues facing the global society.  This was an amazing opportunity.” – 2009 MAcc graduate
