Force-Add Procedure

Mr. Jerry Miller will meet with students desiring to force-add economics classes in his office (219A LWS) during the following hours: Monday, August 25 from 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Students need to read the force-add procedures that will be posted outside 208 LWS (It will not be necessary to complete the School of Business Force-Add Request form.)

FORCE ADD POLICY FOR ECONOMICS

The Department of Economics does not issue force-adds into closed sections/courses except in extreme or unusual circumstances such as:

  • seniors graduating in December who need a course which is specifically required for the major;
  • graduate students who need an undergraduate course as a prerequisite.

If you feel your situation is extreme or unusual, please see me in my office (208B Laws Hall) during the hours listed. (Be sure to read the section below entitled "Ground Rules".)

Ground Rules

Please note: Access to Banner allows us to check your major, credit hours completed, current registration, DAR (Degree Audit Report), as well as any and all courses for which you have attempted to register (audit trail). Any information you provide will be subject to confirmation. In addition, you must have met all prerequisites for the courses in which you are enrolled or wish to be enrolled.

  • FORCE-ADDS WILL NOT BE ISSUED FOR SECTION CHANGES! PLEASE, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MINE IN WAITING ON LINE AND ASKING! In addition, the Department of Economics does not maintain a "swap list" for section changes.
  • Your major on record at the time of registration in April is the one that will be used to determine your priority in receiving a class.
  • Force adds will be not considered for any course in which there are open sections, unless there is no open section that is compatible with your schedule.
  • Force-adds will not be issued for a 300 or 400 level course if you are either a pre-business student or if you have completed fewer than 58 credit hours. This rule was established by the Dean of the School of Business.

If you are an economics major (either Arts and Science or Business), an academic advisor is available to assist you. Please see the secretary in 208 Laws.
