Welcome to the Department of Finance. Our undergraduate program develops skills that result in highly sought-after graduates. We combine top-notch teaching with hands-on experiences that enable students to apply what they have learned. I hope you find the information here useful. About Our Program:

Students who choose to pursue a Major in Finance build a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of financial management. Our department’s objectives are to teach the principles of finance, to explain how financial techniques can solve some of society’s most important problems, and to prepare our students for future responsibilities as financial managers.

Course offerings prepare students for careers in:

  • The finance division of a business firm
  • The securities field, in either a brokerage or investment analysis capacity
  • The real estate business, in sales and appraisal
  • The insurance business, in the fields of financial planning, property, or casualty insurance
  • Estate planning or trust administration

Upon completion of the appropriate finance courses, and upon meeting specified non-academic requirements, students may qualify to sit for examinations for licensing and professional designations in the areas of insurance, investments, and real estate.

The Department of Finance offers Minors in Three Areas:

  • Finance
  • Risk Management and Insurance
  • Business and Legal Studies

A Thematic Sequence in Law and Commerce is also available to non-business majors.
