Welcome to the Department of Marketing website. The Department is proud of the programs we offer and particularly proud of our excellent students and their many fine accomplishments. The Department has gone through significant change in the last few years with complete revisions of our major, minor, and thematic sequence. The goal of the curriculum revision is to engage students by changing the way they learn. The objective of the new marketing major is to leverage curiosity and creativity by having students take more control of their own learning. This is accomplished through extensive case analysis, a creativity requirement, project-based courses, competitions, marketing simulations, the inverted classroom, innovative information delivery systems, and experiential learning.
Senior marketing majors have the opportunity to finish off their undergraduate education as part of the Marketing Strategy Practicum; Highwire Brand Studio; or Armstrong Interactive, the interactive media studies practicum. The Marketing Strategy Practicum uses student teams to address an array of marketing problems for clients. Highwire Brand Studio is an interdisciplinary practicum conducted in partnership with the Graphic Design Department that develop branding programs for client companies in a wide variety of markets and industries. Armstrong Interactive teams work for corporate clients to develop digital solutions to a business problem.
The Department of Marketing is deeply committed to its students and is pleased that the business world has recognized the quality of its graduates by making Miami one of just a small group of target schools at which many large organizations recruit. The combination of excellent instruction, commitment to student engagement and learning, and a focus on preparing students for the real world of business makes the Marketing major an exciting course of study at Miami. Our website provides you with a more detailed look at our courses and programs. We hope you find the material informative and useful. Any questions you have as you review our site may be forwarded to me. Thanks and enjoy your visit to our website.
