Senior Associate Dean & Professor

Raymond Gorman, a member of the Department of Finance since 1985, focuses his teaching and research in the areas of corporate finance, public utility finance and regulation, environmental finance, and resource sustainability issues in business. After earning his bachelor’s degree from Brown University, Dr. Gorman attended Duke University for his MBA and Indiana University for his DBA. In addition to the text “Sustainability Perspectives in Resources and Business,” Dr. Gorman has also published in such journals as the Journal of Financial and Strategic Decisions. The American Economic Review, Yale Journal on Regulation, and the Journal of Business and Public Affairs.
In 1999, Dr. Gorman was named Associate Dean for Curriculum for the Richard T. Farmer School of Business, and was promoted in 2004 to Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. For three years Gorman served as director for the Miami University Center for Sustainable Systems Studies. He also was Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies in 1998-1999. He received the MBA Teaching Excellence Award in 1998.
