Keys (office, desk, file drawers/cabinets) may be obtained from Irene Pierce, 104 Laws, Ext. 9-1628. To accurately record and track key assignments, it is essential that everyone conduct all key transactions (returns as well as check-outs) via Joanne or a departmental secretary.
You should receive two keys: one key will open your office door as well as the departmental office suite, and the second key is for the outside door to the building. In Laws, the key USUCRU, will open classrooms and the elevator. Faculty needing a key to classrooms in Upham should see Joanne Harper (all Upham tech classrooms are keyed identically).
Your Miami ID card will also serve as your building access to Laws and Upham after 10 pm and on the weekends. The building keys will no longer provide you with access at those times; you will only be able to access the building with your ID card. Card readers have been installed on the South door of Laws and the North and South doors of Upham.
Campus mail delivery is made to departmental offices and occurs twice daily - between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. U.S. mail pick-up is made at the same times and is sent out from the campus mailroom in Wells Hall. Outgoing mail should always have a return address, including department. If postage should be charged to a grant or other special account, notation of the account name and number should be placed on the envelope.
Outgoing mail received at Wells prior to 4:00 p.m. will be postmarked with the current date.
U.S. mail delivery is distributed to the School's departments through the campus mail. Stamped outgoing U.S. mail is also collected through the Copy Center in 112 Laws.
The University's preferred overnight express mail courier is UPS Next Day Air service, which offers economical rates and delivery deadlines comparable to Federal Express. For more information on UPS Next Day Air, deadlines and rates, contact the Office of Purchasing, 213 Roudebush Hall, or Central Receiving, 181 Cole Service Building. Several other overnight couriers serve Miami's campus. Each utilizes different pick-up locations. Overnight mail is charged to departmental budgets and requires prior departmental approval.
UPS pick-ups and deliveries are made once a day in each departmental office. Outgoing UPS packages should be dropped off in the office by 1:00 p.m. Incoming UPS packages will be ready for pick-up after 3:00 p.m.

In order to make publications more visible, a display case is available outside 104 Laws. Publications for display may be left with Mary Cooper in 111 Laws, Ext. 9-6114.
A facsimile machine is available in most of the departmental offices (as well as 104 Laws) for receipt and transmission. Departmental support staff operate the fax machine, and departmental approval is required. All documents to be faxed should be submitted to the departmental secretary (not directly to the Dean's Office). The telephone number on the FAX in 104 Laws is (513) 529-6992. Check with departmental secretary for department's fax number.
Business cards are available through the University Purchasing Office. See departmental secretaries for details.
Two calendars are available on the School of Business homepage:
The School provides internal support for computing needs. All requests for acquisition of hardware, software, and related items must be directed to your department chair. After departmental approval, requests are forwarded via e-mail or in writing to Gerald Cruez (cruezg@muohio.edu), Director of SB Information Technologies, with a copy to Beth Baer (baerme@muohio.edu), Assistant Dean. For computer service and repair requests, contact the SB Help Desk via phone or e-mail (9-4940 or sbahelp@muohio.edu). For more information regarding the SB Information Technologies Department, please refer to the technology website (www.fsb.muohio.edu/offices/technology).
The primary reason for server backups is to be capable of rebuilding data in the instance of a server malfunction. At present all SB servers are backed up at 10:00 p.m. daily by MCIS . Each server back-up normally takes one to three hours, depending on how much information has been modified. The Sbaserver normally takes five to six hours; most modifications occur with files on this server. A full backup is performed once every three months and incrementally nightly (saving only files that have been modified since the previous night's backup). Warning: only three copies of a file are saved. (Example: If a file was modified last week on four different days, the first day's copy will be lost. ) The backup is for all servers including Web.
Faculty can backup data onto a CD-R, CRW, or ZIP disk. E-mail can be backed up to the I drive.
The Miami University Telephone Long Distance Authorization Code card provides a convenient and economical means for billing personal long distance phone calls made through your office telephone. The card allows the user to take advantage of the University's volume pricing and WATS discounts. A monthly statement of calling activity is provided, and billing is made to your personal account with the Bursar's Office. The Office of Telecommunications, Robertson Hall, Ext. 9-3511, will provide you with the necessary application forms and information.
