Given the desire to innovate and build upon Laws, Hall & Associates’ (LH&A) 36-year legacy as Miami's flagship interdisciplinary capstone course, the Department of Marketing and the Graphic Design program have developed Highwire Brand Studio, a new branding practicum that will debut during the spring semester of 2008. As LH&A officially “retires” after completing over 85 campaigns, Highwire Brand Studio has been structured to move LH&A from “Good to Great” as follows.
Highwire Brand Studio (1) is based on an innovative pedagogical model focusing on strategic and creative branding ideation, (2) involves students from all majors across the university (rather than limited to Marketing, Graphic Design and Mass Communication) to provide a diversity of perspectives within and across student teams, and (3) creates smaller, more dynamic and flexible student teams.
Each semester, dependent on the applicant pool, Highwire Brand Studio will accept 18–25 marketing majors, 9–12 graphic design majors and 9–12 students representing client-related/project-specific majors. In addition, Highwire Brand Studio meets the criteria for both university and school of business capstone status.
Highwire Brand Studio's domestic client for the Fall 2008 semester will be Total Quality Logistics.
The Highwire Brand Studio faculty are very excited about the prospect of an innovative branding capstone that builds upon our commitment to creativity, risk-taking, decision-making and experiential learning.
See Faculty & Contacts for even more details.
