Howe Writing Initiative

The Howe Writing Initiative is a collaborative project between Miami University's Department of English and the Farmer School of Business, designed to enhance the quality of student writing in the School of Business. The HWI assists both FSB professors in the teaching of writing and FSB students in the improvement of their writing skills.

Quick tips for emailing

When soliciting information, always identify yourself. Don’t assume false familiarity.
Maintain a professional relationship with your reader. Address a recipient formally by using a title and last name.
Do not assume the gender of your recipient if you do not know them and their name is gender-ambiguous.
