Teaching Approach
Prepare for high-level decision making
At its heart, the Miami curriculum helps you become a business leader with a complement of skills, a person who can analyze a business situation from different perspectives and then exercise the judgment required to create a solution.
Miami MBA’s are skilled in finance, in marketing, in operations… all the traditional functional areas of business. But the answers to business dilemmas rarely lie in just one discipline. The solutions and successes lie in their intersection. Miami graduates are trained to see and utilize those intersections. How?
- Most fall and spring semester courses are taught by teams of faculty members, representing different curriculum areas, who coordinate concepts across the boundaries of their individual areas of expertise. (For example, Customer Acquisition is team-taught by professors representing marketing, accounting, finance and economics.)
- Many courses are taught using case method pedagogy. Professors present true-to-life examples of managers faced with difficult decisions. Through examining, discussing and proposing solutions to business cases, you build a strong frame of reference for the countless situations you will face throughout your career.
- Academic activities coordinate with practical knowledge and experience gained through Extended Internships and the Global Consultancy where you will practice what you learn.
