Global Consultancy

Global perspective is increasingly important as business becomes more international. The MBA program continues a Miami tradition of providing strong international programs by including a Global Consultancy as the capstone for the program. The format of the Global Consultancy offers more than is typical of such programs. As part of a small team of Miami MBA’s, students spend 4+ weeks living and working abroad completing a substantive project for a host company.

The location of the field study will vary from year to year, based upon the quality of opportunities provided by the host country or countries. To learn more about the students' experience, visit the students blogs.

2009 Global Consultancy

In May/June 2009, eight teams of Miami MBA's complete field projects in China, Netherlands, Germany and Belgium for such firms as Dell, Dimerco, Eaton, Penske, Procter & Gamble, Uti, and Valvoline.

A samples of project descriptions include:

  • Analysis of cost and cause of returns in distribution centers around the world. Development of action plan to prevent recurring issues.
  • Examine business potential for American firm to enter a very profitable market segment in Europe.
  • Work with each of the company's businesses to standardize scorecards, purchasing policies and create a "community of best practice sharing" within regional procurement groups. Develop commodity sourcing strategy.

Positive feedback from both students and participating companies strongly indicate that the global consultancy benefits students and companies alike.
