Financial Aid

Three primary sources of financial assistance are available for MBA students: Graduate Awards, Scholarships and Loans. (100% of current Miami MBA’s receive financial aid.)

Graduate Awards

  • Modified Graduate Assistantships cover the full cost of tuition, half of most other University fees, plus provide a stipend. Students awarded these Assistantships work 8 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters most often assisting Business School faculty in non-teaching roles.  The MBA program currently awards 34 assistantships per class.  To apply, complete the graduate award application included as part of the Graduate School application form.
  • Graduate Grants-in-Aid waive the cost of tuition, but do not include a stipend and carry no work requirements. The deadline to apply is March 1. Application forms are available from the Graduate School office.

Both in-state and out-of-state students are eligible to received graduate awards.

Scholarships

MBA students are eligible for a number of scholarships awarded by the School of Business and Graduate School.

  • D. Warren Brown Family MBA Scholarship is awarded to one or more MBA students who demonstrate academic merit and financial need.
  • James and Amy Chapman Scholarship is designed to support international study for one or more MBA students per year. Criteria include academic merit and financial need.
  • R.T. Davidson Award provides assistance to students annually with preference given to candidates emphasizing marketing.
  • Dr. and Mrs. Surendra Singhvi Graduate Student Scholarship is awarded to students in the MBA program with preference given to international students.
  • Other School of Business and Graduate School Scholarships include:
    • MBA Program Fund
    • Dean’s Service Awards
    • Diversity Enhancement Program Awards (DEP)
    • Academic Achievement Assistantship Awards (AAA)
    • Graduate Student Association (GSA) Travel Assistance Funds
    • Union Pacific Foundation MBA Scholarship

Information on eligibility and nominations for these scholarships is available through the MBA Program Office.

Loans

In addition to awards and scholarships administered through the Graduate School and the School of Business, US citizens and permanent residents may also qualify for Federal Direct Loans.

To be considered for a Federal Direct Loan, prospective students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  For priority consideration, the FAFSA should be submitted the by February 15.  Since the MBA program begins in the summer semester, incoming students are advised to complete a FAFSA for both the previous and upcoming year.

Students may also qualify for private loan funding which is based on credit.  Students holding graduate assistantships are advised to check with the Office of Student Financial Assistance before contacting private lenders, because they may not have eligibility for additional funds.
