Scott Metcalf (Finance, ‘04) appeared on the TV competition, “Clash of the Choirs,” and was a member of the winning ensemble. “Clash of the Choirs, ” which aired on NBC the week before Christmas, was a four-day reality competition among five hometown choirs from Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Houston, New Haven, and Oklahoma City. After each evening’s program, viewers were asked to vote for their favorite choir. The prize, $250,000 in cash, was to be awarded to the winning choir’s designated charity. The Cincinnati choir, fronted by pop singer Nick Lachey, won in an exciting final episode Dec. 20. “Team Lachey” chose Cincinnati Children’s Hospital as the recipient of their prize money.
In addition to Metcalf, “Team Lachey” included Miami University alumnus Chuck Merk (‘75) who was a member of the Miami University’s Glee Club while a student.
Ronald J. Bachman (ACC, ‘81) president and CEO of Marion General Hospital, has been elected as central district representative to serve on the 2008 Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) Board of Trustees. The OHA Board of Trustees sets policy and strategic direction for matters affecting hospitals throughout Ohio. Bachman has served Marion General Hospital as president and CEO since 2000, and as CFO from 1992-1999.
Eric Baumgartner (MKT, ‘82) was appointed senior vice president, strategy and solutions delivery, for WorkflowOne, one of North America’s leading providers of print, promotional products and supply chain services. He is responsible for the company’s strategy, marketing, communications, solutions development, pricing, proposal support, strategic sourcing and implementation. Baumgartner was previously vice president of Global Print Management at RR Donnelley and held senior positions in sales and marketing at Pitney Bowes and Xerox Corporation. His sales career began in 1982 with Moore Corporation, where he helped develop the customer communication outsourcing market. Baumgartner completed graduate work at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Victor G. Caruso (FIN, ‘70) has been appointed a managing director in the Investment Banking Group of Morgan Joseph & Co. Inc., a full-service investment bank. He was formerly a managing director of Gordian Group, LLC. Caruso has over 20 years of experience in investment banking and has specialized in complex corporate finance problems. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. Prior to joining Gordian Group, Caruso was a managing director at Seneca Financial Group, Inc. and at Bear Stearns & Co. Inc., and was a founding and senior member of Lehman Brothers' Financial Restructuring Group.
Bill Donabedian (BUS, ‘90) was named the new managing director for Fountain Square. His responsibilities include day-to-day aspects such as parking and maintenance issues, as well as programming for the Square. He entered Miami University as a music major but switched to general business. After graduation, he worked in restaurants and a Ralph Lauren Polo store. From there it was on to Winston Financial, a business started by his father. In 2006, Donabedian earned an MBA from Xavier University.
S. Kay Geiger began the new year in a new position: as president of PNC Bank’s Ohio and Northern Kentucky region. This appointment makes her the first woman to lead a major Cincinnati area banking operation.Geiger comes to the post from a five-year tenure at LaSalle Bank, where she was senior vice president and regional manager of corporate banking in Ohio and Kentucky. She left the bank after its acquisition by Bank of America last fall. She has 29 years of experience in the banking industry.
PNC is the Cincinnati region's No. 4 bank with $2.4 billion in deposits. The bank has 52 branches in the region and about 560 employees.
Geiger earned her MBA from Ohio State University. She currently serves on the Miami University Board of Trustees.
Lynn J. Good (ACC, Systems Analysis, ‘81) has been named group executive and president, Commercial Businesses of Duke Energy. When Duke Energy merged with Cinergy in 2006, Good became senior vice president and treasurer, responsible for the corporation’s treasury functions, as well as insurance, market and credit risk management, and corporate financial planning and analysis. Prior to that, she was executive vice president and chief financial officer for Cinergy, and previously served as Cinergy’s controller.
John Greisch (ACC, ’77) was appointed board of directors for TomoTherapy, a company which manufactures and sells an advanced radiation therapy system that treats a wide variety of cancers. He currently serves as corporate vice president and president, international, for Baxter International Inc. Greisch joined Baxter in 2002 as vice president of finance for Baxter's Renal business. He then became vice president of finance and strategy for Baxter's BioScience business before being named president of that business. In 2004, he was tapped as corporate vice president and chief financial officer. Prior to joining Baxter, Greisch was president and CEO of FleetPride Corporation and served in a variety of roles at The Interlake Corporation, Greisch received a master's degree in management from Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Gary Hentschel (ECO/MKT, ‘80) was appointed president of KeyBank, Central Indiana. He was previously president and chief operating officer of Personnel Management, but earlier served as executive vice president of corporate banking at Key Bank, Central Indiana. Hentschel, who received a his MBA from Butler University, is treasurer of the board of directors of the Indianapolis Public Transportation Corp.
Bill Kerrigan (ECO, ‘77) was appointed to board of directors of California-based Guard ID Systems, Inc.. He was previously executive vice president at McAfee, where he was responsible for its $500 million global consumer business. He increased online subscription revenue 367 percent and expanded the online subscriber base more than 12-fold, to about 23 million subscribers. Before joining McAfee, Kerrigan co-founded Rebar, LLC, a $1 billion privately held operating and holding company, and parent company of Corporate Software, a global software, software management and IT services provider. His career began with nearly 20 years at IBM.
Mike Lunsford (ACC, ‘74) president and CEO of Coldwell Banker Lunsford Real Estate Co., has been appointed to the Indiana Real Estate Commission by Gov. Mitch Daniels. He was formerly sales manager of Allardt Dailey & McKibben Gallery of Homes. In 1983, he purchased the company and formed Lunsford Real Estate, increasing the size of the business from 15 to 32 associates. In 1998, he purchased three additional offices and joined the Coldwell Banker franchise as Coldwell Banker Lunsford. He expanded the business to include a commercial real estate division and increased the staff to 37 full-time agents and eight staff members.
Stephanie Hogue Martin (MKT, ’01) is vice president, debt capital markets for Calyon Securities (USA), Inc. in New York City. Stephanie moved from Deloitte where she was manager, strategic investments, to Calyon Corporate & Investment Bank in its Debt Capital Markets group. She is currently focused on Intellectual Property securitization. Stephanie lives in Norwalk, CT with her family.
Andy Mitchelides (MKT, ’06) is working for Polaroid and is based in Boston as a global product planner for the Polaroid Instant Mobile Photo Printer.
Cindy Nelson (MGT, ‘79) was named director of Marketing and Business Development of EBE Technologies, the leading developer of enterprise business process management software for the transportation industry. Nelson brings to EBE twenty years of marketing, public relations and business development experience in the technology industry. Prior to joining EBE, she served as the director of marketing for TMW Systems, the developer of software for the trucking industry, where she was responsible for corporate marketing, public and industry relations. She has also held senior marketing and sales management positions with various consulting, hardware and software firms.
Tom Swank (FIN ‘82) was appointed president and chief operating officer at Security Benefit Corp. in Topeka, Kansas. He previously served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Beginning in 1992 as a high-yield portfolio manager and director of fixed income research, Swank went on to handle a variety of managerial positions, most recently, head of the company’s Advisor/Employer lines of business. He also is a registered Chartered Financial Analyst. Swank is a member of the Topeka Advisory Board for UMB Bank, and is a director of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce.
Stephen J. Tosh (MKT, ‘88) was promoted to divisional president of Premier Lease & Loan Services, a division of Great American Insurance Group. Tosh has been with Great American since 1991. Prior to this promotion, he served as divisional senior vice president with responsibility for Premier Lease & Loan Services' automotive and international operations. Tosh earned an MBA from Indiana University.
Robert Welge III (FIN ’06) is an investment banking analyst for Deutsche Bank Securities in Chicago, Ill.
Laura Tomeny (ACC, ’99) is a senior manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Rochester, NY. She married Brain Tomeny in June 2005 and welcomed first son, Logan Mathew, in September, 2007.
Richard Eugene Harshman (ACC, ’59) died on Nov. 2, 2007. He was born Sept. 7, 1928, near Spartanburg, Indiana. Richard served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947-1953, working at bases in Texas, Colorado, and California. He married his wife, Alice, in March of 1958. They raised their family in Findlay and were members of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. In 1990 they moved to Bradenton, Fla.
