Recipients of this year's Farmer School teaching and research awards include a two-time Senior Fulbright Scholar, a distinguished expert in the field of forecasting, and a former Air Force ROTC Commander.
Marcus Jobe (DSC/MIS) was given the Richard T. Farmer Teaching Excellence Award, bestowed each year upon a senior faculty member. Jobe, the school's first two-time Senior Fulbright Scholar, was commended for his "excitement and passion for his job," and ability to "offer successfully to undergraduates course material that is normally taught at the graduate level at business schools."
David Shrider (Finance) was honored with the Richard K. Smucker Teaching Excellence Award, given to a tenure-track faculty member each year. Shrider's students and peers comment on his "dynamic classroom presence," "quest for effective teaching techniques," and "energetic scholarship program."
Ron Schloemer (Management) is the recipient of the Samuel S. Laws Teaching Excellence Award, given each year to an outstanding clinical faculty member. Schloemer, who came to Miami in the 1980s as an Air Force ROTC Commander, has been called an "innovator," "a caring and strong, focused teacher," and "a source of wisdom for his students."
Maria Cronley (Marketing) was recognized for her prolific and high quality research with the James Robeson Junior Faculty Research Excellence Award. Cronley's work, according to colleagues, is "impressive in both its breadth and its quality," "focuses on mainstream issues that are of interest to the field," and has been published in "the best scholarly outlets."
Anne Koehler (DSC/MIS), Panuska Professor of Business Administration, was honored for a distinguished career that has combined outstanding teaching and stellar scholarship. Koehler has been named a Fellow by both the Decision Sciences Institute and the International Institute of Forecasting. Her "academic accomplishments are vast," said one colleague. Said another, "Anne Koehler is a truly formidable scholar with an international influence and reputation."
