The critical importance of integrity, leadership and transparency in today’s world economy is the topic of a two-day “Business Summit” held at Miami University July 20-22.

Ernst & Young, in partnership with the Farmer School of Business’s Center for Business Excellence, is presenting the session. It’s the first event of its kind to be held on a college campus.

Attendees consist of a handpicked group of 35 sophomore accounting majors from top undergraduate business programs in the U.S. and Canada. The students will spend two days examining case studies in which business decision makers must consider issues of integrity, leadership and transparency in weighing competing needs of various stakeholders.

“Ernst & Young has identified the most promising accounting majors from programs throughout the U.S. and Canada, and is immersing them in these core issues because integrity, leadership and transparency are so very crucial to business decision making today,” said Dr. Brian Ballou, professor of accountancy at the Farmer School of Business and co-director of the Center for Business Excellence.

“This experience will provide students with an understanding that successful business professionals consistently emphasize these attributes when making key decisions,” said Center co-director and associate professor Dr. Dan Heitger.

Conference keynote speaker is Beth Brooke, vice chairman of global markets for Ernst & Young.
