Sign up for the Investment Banking Case Competition

The finance department announces its inaugural Miami University Investment Banking Case Competition, which will take place from Oct. 1 - 23. This event is open to all Miami undergraduates on the Oxford campus, regardless of major or division.

The competition, sponsored by William Blair & Company, will award a cash prize of $500 to the winning team. There are other great reasons to participate as well!

Assemble your team now! Each team must be composed of 3 or 4 members. A mix of majors is ideal for a team. The deadline for team signups is WEDNESDAY, October 1 at 5 p.m. in the finance department office, 120 Upham Hall. To register, submit the name of your team, the captain’s name, and names and contact information for all members.

Want to participate but don’t have a team? There will be a signup sheet outside the department office for individual students seeking team members. Sign up well before the deadline so you can be placed with a team.

Here is how the competition works:

• At 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, case materials will be posted on a participant-only web site. In analyzing the case, your team may use any sources available to you.
• By noon on Friday, October 10, a summary of your conclusions and supporting analysis is due in the finance department office, 120 Upham. Late submissions will be disqualified.
• On Monday, October 20, 3 or 4 finalist teams will be announced, and will be invited to the second round. All participating teams will receive summary feedback from the judges.
• From 3-5:30 p.m. on Friday, October 23, each of the finalist teams will make a 25-minute presentation of their analysis, followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer session with the judges.
• From 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 23, there will be a reception and dinner for the competing teams and judges. Competition winners will be announced at the dinner.
