The Farmer School of Business was ranked 6th among public institutions in BusinessWeek’s fourth annual survey of the nation’s best undergraduate business programs. Overall, the school was ranked 18th in the nation. The magazine's 2009 survey looked at approximately 500 AACSB-accredited programs in the U.S.

This year, the Farmer School moved up from its 2008 ranking of 8th among public institutions and 24th overall, placing it well within the nation’s top 5 percent. It is the only Ohio institution in the top 25.

Among the Farmer School’s strengths was its ranking of 4th from recruiters and a high level of student satisfaction with job placement services. The program’s academic quality received high marks as well, reinforced by students, who gave the school’s teaching quality an “A” and reported that they spend more than 17 hours per week on school work, the eighth-highest level among the ranked schools.

Other public universities whose undergraduate business programs ranked high on the BusinessWeek survey are the University of Virginia, the University of Michigan, the University of California at Berkeley, The University of Texas–Austin, and the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill.

“We are determined—even in these challenging economic times—to remain an outstanding program, focused on engaging our students through excellence in teaching, International Studies programs, and experiential learning. With our move to our new building this summer, we will offer an excellent facility as well,” said Farmer School Dean Roger L. Jenkins.

“Our rise in the BusinessWeek survey can be attributed directly to the hard work and entrepreneurial spirit of our faculty and staff, who have embraced a culture of continuous improvement in our journey ‘from good to great.’”

The Farmer School of Business provides an academically rigorous program enhanced by real-world experience and many opportunities to study abroad. In addition to being ranked among the nation’s top undergraduate business programs by BusinessWeek, the school’s accountancy programs consistently rank among the nation’s best.
