With major victories at the Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE) 2009 national convention in March, Miami University’s chapter of the sales and marketing fraternity continues a distinguished tradition. In 11 of the last 12 years, the Gamma Gamma chapter has finished among the top three, out of 60 chapters competing for Lewis F. Gordon Top Chapter Award. This year, Gamma Gamma achieved second place.
In addition to its top chapter placement, Gamma Gamma captured first-place awards in the categories of Top Marketing Plan, Top Sales Project, Top Management Team, Top Business Plan, and Special Events.
Miami’s PSE chapter, based in the Farmer School, won second place awards for its public relations strategy and its service project, the promotion of the Starfish Children’s Fund. This nonprofit organization, established by Farmer School student Brittany McCann, supports a school for blind children in India, and is the beneficiary of the Farmer School’s Golf Fore a Cause event in April.
"The PSE National Convention is a great opportunity for our members to attend professional development workshops and network with alumni, companies and business professionals,” says Gamma Gamma president Phil Paquette. “Our leadership team and members work hard every year to compete in various project categories.
“The awards we won this year are a testament to that hard work and dedication to PSE. We could not have accomplished this without the continued support from our advisor, Dr. Don Norris, and the faculty and staff of the Farmer School of Business."
