John Gongos, marketing research leader and the founder and CEO of Gongos Research, passed away suddenly on July 25, 2012. Gongos, 51, was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma on July 17, 2012. The Farmer School of Business extends its deepest condolences to his family.
Gongos graduated from the Farmer School of Business in 1982 with a degree in marketing and received an MBA from the University of Cincinnati. Over the years, Gongos remained a strong supporter of the Farmer School, regularly addressing students on marketing research topics and recruiting fellow alumni. Gongos Research currently employs a number of Miami University graduates.
His passion for research and desire to create a place for people to thrive professionally and personally led to the creation of Gongos Research. Gongos understood the valuable role innovation would play in market research and set a course for it to flourish in his company.
Gongos served on the Board of Directors for the Council for American Survey Research Organizations (CASRO) and recently co-chaired its Management Conference. He also served on the Board of Directors and Compensation Committee for The Albrecht Companies, Inc.
Gongos Research has worked with companies such as Hallmark Cards, MasterFoods, Best Buy, U.S. Bank, Visa, GM and Chrysler. The company was first named to the Inc. 5000 list of "The Fastest Growing Companies in America" in 2007. Gongos Research is a Honomichl Top 50 U.S. marketing research organization.
