Minor in Finance
This minor is currently available only to non-business majors.
The Finance minor provides an overview of the practical aspects of finance and business management. The general objectives are to
enlighten students with financial aspects that will aid them later in life.
Program Requirements
- Take 18 hours total
- All of the following:
- ACC 221: Introduction to Financial Accounting (3)
- ECO 301: Money and Banking (3)
- FIN 301: Introduction to Business Accounting (3)
- FIN 401: Principles of Investments and Security Markets (3)
- Six additional hours of the following:
- FIN 302: Intermediate Financial Management (3)
- FIN 402: Fixed-Income Portfolio Management (3)
- FIN 403: Portfolio Management (3)
- FIN 408: Commerical Bank Management (3)
- FIN 417: International Business Finance (3)
- FIN 475: Financial Policies of Corportations (3)
Additional Information
Note the following prerequisites:
- FIN 301 Prerequisites: ECO 201 and 202, ACC 221 and 222.
- FIN 401 Prerequisites: DSC 205 and FIN 301.
18 hours must be taken at Miami University for a grade of a least 2.0 for the courses included in the minior.
