Minor in Supply Chain Management

This program is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of the concept of Supply Chain Management (SCM) as a key business strategy. A recent study cited SCM as one of the three most important management practices for determining world class performances, and this minor will allow students to develop a framework for understanding the role of Supply Chain Management in a contemporary global business setting. Students will learn the tools for integrating the key functions of procurement, production, marketing, logistics, accounting and MIS, leading to the successful operation of the entire supply chain process. The minor will expose the students to the many career opportunities available in the field of supply chain management.

Program Requirements

  1. Take all of the following:
    • ACC 333: Managerial Cost Accounting
    • MKT 431: Logistics Management
    • MGT 432: Purchasing and Materials Management
    • MGT 453: Productivity Improvement
    • MGT/MKT498: Supply Chain Management
  2. Focus Elective: Take one of the following:
    • MKT 415 or MKT 421: Marketing to Organizations
    • MKT 461: Principles of Retailing
    • MGT 451: Operations Planning and Scheduling
    • MGT 457: Integrated Production/Operations Management Topics
  3. Tools Elective: Take one of the following:
    • DSC 365: Statistical Quality Control
    • ACC 433: Advanced Cost Accounting
    • DSC 321: Quantitative Analysis of Business Problems
    • DSC 305: Applied Regression Analysis in Business
    • MIS 385: Management Information and Decision Support Systems

Additional Information

MIS 235, DSC 205, MKT 291, MGT 302, and ACC 222 are all prerequisites to this minor.
