In recognition of the changing world our graduates will face, the Student Development Office in the Farmer School of Business assists students in two main areas.
The first is the Professional and Self Development Skills Initiative which is a solid program designed to mentor students and assure that they leave the school with excellent competence in certain skills and perspectives to effectively function in a global society. Students take a survey to identify skill areas they want to grow in, and then receive direction, mentoring, and support as they progress forward.
The second area that the Student Development Office assists with is that of the Admission by Portfolio. As standards to gain entry into the Business School are rigorous, the portfolio is an opportunity for students with a G.P.A. below 3.0 to apply for entrance into the school. The office advises students on how to create and submit their portfolio, offers suggestions and proof reading on their written work, and provides support and feedback on the portfolios before they are submitted.
