V. Supported Web Server Applications/Languages
I. SBA Faculty Web Server (www.sba.muohio.edu)
The purpose of the faculty web server is to provide faculty and School of Business related student organizations a place to house and serve their web sites. This server will also be used to house the School of Business web site.
A. Creation of Accounts on SBA Faculty Web Server
1. Faculty Accounts - will be created upon the creation
of their account in
the NDS by MCIS.
a. Accounts will be generated using the faculty members unique ID
b. Account passwords will be set to sync to the faculty members' NDS account. It may be necessary for the faculty member to reset their NDS password following the creation of their account in order for the web account password to sync properly.
2. Student Organization - to be created upon a request from the faculty advisor and approval from the Deans Office.
a. Accounts will be named to accurately reflect the name of the organization
b. Account passwords will be set by the faculty advisor.
c. Accounts will be created in no more than 5 working days.
II. SBA Student Web Server (student.sba.muohio.edu)
The purpose of the student web server is to provide an area for students involved in group work to house and serve their web sites. This server may also be used in conjunction with the MIS Department to test individual graduate student accounts.
PLEASE NOTE: Content on student web server will be deleted at the end of every semester.
A. Creation of Accounts of SBA Student Server
1. Group Accounts - to be created upon a request from the course instructor
a. Accounts for groups will be named using the following convention:CSE###SG where:
CSE = Course prefix (i.e. MIS)
### = Course number (i.e. 235)
S = Course section letter
G = Group Number
Example: Create an account for MIS 235 section A group #1
MIS235A1b. Passwords will be established by the faculty member responsible for the class.
c. Accounts will be created in no more than 5 working days and will be limited to 50MB of disk space.
2. Individual Graduate Student Accounts - to be created on a case by case basis for testing the feasibility of providing web space to SBA students.
a. Accounts will be generated using the students unique ID.
b. Passwords will be established by the faculty member responsible for the students class.
c. Accounts will be created in no more than 5 working days and will be limited to 50MB of disk space.
3. Individual Undergraduate Account Creation - to create an account click on the
following URL: http://student.sba.muohio.edu
Students will be prompted for their Miami uniqueid and password. Their account will be
created in the form of http://student.sba.muohio.edu/xxxx (xxxx represents their uniqueid)
III. Web Server Passwords
A. Faculty Accounts
1. Passwords will be reset when requested by the faculty member or deemed necessary by the Network or Web Administrator.
B. Student Organizations
1. Passwords will be reset when requested by the supervising faculty member or deemed necessary by the Network or Web Administrator. Passwords will not be reset by student request under any conditions to ensure server security.
C. Student Group Accounts
1. Passwords will be reset when requested by the supervising faculty member or deemed necessary by the Network or Web Administrator. Passwords will not be reset by student request under any conditions to ensure server security.
D. Individual Student Accounts
1. Passwords will be reset by request of the supervising faculty member, student account owner, or when deemed necessary by the Network or Web Administrator. In the instance that the student owner requests their password to be reset, they must appear in person to 201 Laws with their student ID in order for their request to be processed. This is to ensure proper sever security.
IV. Removal of Accounts
A. Unplanned Removal of Accounts
1. All users are expected to follow the MCIS Guidelines for Responsible Computing, which can be read at: www.muohio.edu/responsiblecomputing
Violation of these guidelines may result in the loss of web account privileges.
B. Planned Removal of Accounts
1. Student Group accounts and individual accounts will be removed one week after the end of each semester account. An email will be sent to each supervising faculty member to remind them of the event.

C. Request for Applications/Languages
1. Requests for applications will follow the same guidelines as requesting workstation software.
