Mentoring

As a participant in the Buck Rodgers Business Leadership Program, you are required to enroll in the Mentor Program for at least one year. The Mentor Program complements your formal education, reinforcing and expanding on what you’ve learned from your professors in the classroom. Your experience with a mentor will help you learn about business culture, give you opportunities for direct observation, and enable you to ask questions in an informal setting.  The mentor serves as a valuable resource as you start the transition from college into the workforce.

Within the Mentor Program, you will be placed on a team with two or three other students. You will meet your mentor at an autumn introductory event. As the year progresses, you will become better acquainted through a variety of activities that aid your professional development, including shadow days, social activities, mentor visits to campus, and other special events sponsored by the BRBLP.

The program director matches you with a mentor after reviewing your information and that of available mentors. To ensure that these relationships are successful and beneficial to everyone concerned, we provide mentors with materials, training, and the opportunity to talk with the program director about their participation in the program. You also will receive materials about the program as well as ongoing guidance from the program director.
