The Far East Program will visit Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China.
The first stop is Taiwan. The group will begin in Taipei, the capital, and then move from there around the island to visit the beautiful coastal towns. Students will be hosted at National Chung Cheng University, and other universities. Business field trips include visits to a Japanese-affiliated food manufacturer.
From here the group moves to Hong Kong. Included are several lectures by speakers from Hong Kong Chinese University. Field trips to manufacturing plants, such as the largest cargo center in the world at the Hong Kong airport, are included. During their free time, students also tend to visit Macau.
This is, by far, the most extensive visit of China that any of our programs offer, and students will have visited a variety of cities, companies, and cultural sites during their stay. Students will experience Shanghai, a thriving business city; Nanjing, the southern capital in China during many different dynasties, which offers a number of interesting historical sites; Beijing, to see the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City. Field trips to these and other famous historical and cultural sites are arranged. Lectures at local universities and meetings with local students are included to enrich students’ academic learning. In general, the focus in China is on learning Chinese philosophy, value concepts, political development, and finally, how this ties into their current business practices.
Site accommodations
Students and faculty stay in four and five star hotels during this program. Breakfast is included at each hotel. Double accommodations are provided and each student will have a roommate of someone else in the workshop. Some group lunches and dinners are included throughout the program.
