Frequently Asked Questions

Who pays for what?
Participants in the Wall Street Week program are responsible for their own transportation to and from New York City. Plan on arriving on Sunday, January 6, 2008 and on leaving no sooner than Saturday, January 12, 2008. Note that this is the week prior to the first week of the Spring semester.

MU will pay for hotel accommodation on a dual occupancy basis. All other room charges such as telephone, room service and premium television will be the responsibility of the occupants. Bring a charge card with you. You will be staying at the Crown Plaza Times Square Hotel in Manhattan. Although the program will provide a few meals and some intra-city transportation, students will largely be responsible for both.

What does the schedule look like?
During the business day, speakers and site visits are planned from 8:00 am through 5:00 pm. Our host is the Royal Bank of Scotland, 101 Park Avenue, NYC. They have allowed us virtually unrestricted use of their Conference Room. You must be on time for all events [Eastern Daylight Savings Time not, Miami University Class and Party time, will be in effect]. Failure to be prompt or similar inappropriate behavior will result be being precluded from Wall Street Week events.

There may be some receptions planned in the early evening. A tentative schedule accompanies this memo and a formal schedule of the Wall Street Week events will be provided to you in Fall 2007 semester. Plan on attending all of these events especially the receptions since these are being hosted by potential employers.

What is the dress code?
Participants in Wall Street Week will be representing the University. All scheduled events are deemed to be business formal [suit, tie] unless otherwise specified.

Will there be time to explore the City?
A non-mandatory scavenger hunt is planned so that you can get out and see some of the sights. This is a group activity so that you will not be alone in a strange city. If you wish to explore the City on your own, you are welcome to do so. Remember, being a tourist does not exempt you from the law. Break the law at your own risk – if you get yourself into trouble – get yourself out!

How do I apply to go?
Fill out the application making sure you supply typed answers to the questions and attach a check for $100 payable to Miami University. These funds will be used to cover incidental expenses such as entrance fees. Completed applications must be received in Upham Hall Room 120 no later than 5:00 pm on Wednesday November 28, 2007. You will be notified by December 3, 2007 if you have been accepted. If you are not accepted, the money will be returned. You must also complete the Risk Waiver Form that you will find attached to this document. The Risk Waiver Form is part of a complete application. You cannot attend Wall Street Week without having one of these forms on file.

Will there be time to contact potential employers?
A major goal of the WSW program is to raise the profile of Miami business students. If accepted to the program, you will be requested to provide a resume. The resumes of all participants will be bound together and forwarded to all presenters and hosts participating in the program.
